If you are supporting families with sleep, it's likely you've seen many parents sold the dream of gentle sleep, only to find it is nothing of the sort.
Well, let us share a little (not-so-secret) secret.
You probably already know that a good way to support families with sleep challenges is to offer them gentle strategies that feel like a good fit with their parenting style.
But what if we said this is only a tiny piece of the puzzle?
If we distill sleep support down to a range of sleep strategies, we are missing the point of being truly holistic and responsive. A holistic approach is so much more than the range of sleep strategies in our tool kit.
In the Holistic Sleep Coaching Program we do things differently. Our industry-renowned training supports our students to be able to support families with sleep in a way that gets results, without resorting to non-responsive techniques which conflict with their responsive parenting beliefs.

Everything you need to know about holistic sleep coaching and the programme. Still have a question? Book a call with our team.
What is holistic sleep coaching?
Holistic sleep coaching supports family sleep by looking far beyond a set of sleep-training strategies. Instead of one-size-fits-all techniques, a holistic sleep coach considers the whole picture — infant and child sleep biology, feeding, development, health, temperament, attachment and the parents' own goals — and helps families improve sleep gently and responsively, protecting the parent-child relationship.
How is holistic sleep coaching different from traditional sleep training?
Traditional sleep training often relies on a fixed set of behavioural techniques, some of which are non-responsive and conflict with a family's parenting values. Holistic sleep coaching gets results without resorting to those techniques. It's grounded in evidence and biology, tailored to each family, and focused on understanding why a child isn't sleeping — so you can support even complex cases with confidence.
Is the Holistic Sleep Coaching Program accredited?
Yes. The programme is accredited at Level 6 through the Open College Network (OCN), the largest vocational awarding body in the UK. Accreditation means teaching and assessment standards are upheld through a rigorous internal and external verification process — so you can be confident in the quality and depth of your training.
Do I need previous qualifications or experience to join?
The programme suits practitioners who already support families — maternity nurses, nannies, health visitors, IBCLCs, doulas and nursery professionals — as well as parents building a new career. It's best suited to people committed to evidence-based, responsive practice who can dedicate around four hours a week. If you're aligned with a holistic, gentle ethos, we'd love to hear from you.
Will this qualify me to work as a sleep consultant?
There's currently no single regulated qualification required to work as a sleep consultant, which is exactly why the depth of your training matters. Completing the Holistic Sleep Coaching Program gives you an in-depth, OCN-accredited education delivered by leading specialists, so you can practise with genuine confidence and stand out as a specialist rather than someone who's taken a short course.
Who teaches the programme?
It's led by Dr Lyndsey Hookway — a public health nurse, IBCLC, PhD researcher and author of six books on infant sleep, breastfeeding and parenting, widely recognised as a leading voice in holistic sleep — who leads all clinical supervision. Co-founder Emma Dewey leads the business and marketing side, helping graduates turn their accreditation into a working business. Students also learn from a line-up of internationally renowned guest speakers.
How long is the course and how much time does it take?
The programme spans 16 core modules with over 100 hours of content, and you receive lifetime access. Most students set aside around four hours a week. Learning fits around your life, with self-paced online modules alongside live interactive sessions — and everything is recorded so you can catch up whenever suits you.
How is the training delivered?
Online, through user-friendly modules you can read and listen to, combined with interactive, action-focused evening webinars that are recorded for later. You'll also receive downloadable, done-for-you resources used in real practice — including sleep diaries, sleep plans, terms and conditions and a professional code of conduct.
What support do I get during and after the course?
Support goes well beyond the modules. You join a private community with twice-weekly live Q&A calls with Lyndsey and monthly marketing calls with Emma. Uniquely, graduates receive free ongoing support after they finish, including up to six continued professional development sessions each year and continued access to the graduate community.
Can I build a business from this training?
Yes. Alongside the clinical training, the programme includes dedicated business and marketing support to help you attract the clients you want, position yourself as a specialist and build a sustainable practice. Many graduates go on to become fully booked, working with the families they most want to help.
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes. Each year we offer two fully funded scholarship places as part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, aimed at people from underrepresented or marginalised groups who want to build a sleep coaching business and support underserved communities. Eligibility criteria apply, and applications open at set times during the year.
How do I apply?
If you feel aligned with our holistic ethos, the first step is to book a call with our team and complete a short application form. The call takes around 45 minutes and lets us make sure the programme is the right fit for you and answer all of your questions.
